The Armada

Responsibilities are separated into 4 sub teams that work together to achieve the main objective:
To pillage and plunder...with Robots

Business Team

The objective of the business team is to promote and represent the Robosub team. This includes managing social media accounts, drafting purchasing orders, taking care of logistics of the project and trip, and presenting the technical report. We take care of business. Business is our business, and business is good.

Mechanical Team

As mechanical team members we are responsible for the overall design of the submarine and every physical component. This includes but is not limited to engineering the frame, placement of thrusters and encasing all electronics in a water tight hull. We make sure the submarine doesn’t fall apart before or during the competition.

Electrical Team

Water and electricity don’t mix. Thus building and maintaining all electrical systems on a underwater drone takes a special kind bravery. Every watt, volt and amp is carefully controlled and monitored by us. We design, build and secure all system critical connections.

Programming Team

The programming team is in charge of developing the custom AI, communications and debugging systems. Based on an easy to understand open source .NET architecture, we keep in mind future generations of programmers so they will be able to more easily understand code and learn from it.

Setting Course

Goals & Progress
Compete and place in the top 5 out of 40 in the RoboSub competition

1. Create necessary prototypes and final competition ready drone capable of successfully completing all challenges in the 2016 competition.

2. Build from small prototype to final design. Each version increasing in complexity and capability.

3. Systematically increase testing to advance the design of the drone and expose any potential problems prior to competition.

4. Build ourselves as individuals and gain experience working on a complex team project.

5. Extend our knowledge and lessons learned to future generations through outreach events and detailed documentation.

President of the Robotics club on campus? Yup. Taking care of business since 1994? Yup. Ever get caught slippin? Nope. No more questions.

Eddy Medrano

Electrical Lead
I am Nicola Tesla reincarnated. Electrical Systems Lead and developer of electrical systems for more than 8 years. Eddy was born with a soldering iron in one hand and an oscilloscope in the other.

Owen Wolf

Programming Lead
I am a computing prodigy. When robots become sentient and take over, the world’s leaders will look onto me to solve the apocalypse unbeknownst that I was probably the one that caused it.

Alex Jong

Mechanical Lead
For your sake, let’s just assume that I’m never wrong. To understand mechanics, you need force to get work done. If work is hard, then find effort. Can’t? Then the problem is in the mirror.

Steven Lemos

Project Lead
A god among men, I spend my time caring for my elderly grandmother and raising orphaned puppies while working towards a Master’s Degree in Bio-medical Engineering and teaching underprivileged inner city kids ways to better their lives.
